Year 5 Pupils Shine at Aldridge School’s World Book Day Quiz

Year 5 pupils from across our local primary schools discovered exactly what Dr. Seuss meant when he said, “You can find magic wherever you look… all you need is a book!” That spirit of literary magic filled Aldridge School as we welcomed teams of enthusiastic young readers for our exciting World Book Day Quiz.

We were delighted to host pupils from Blackwood, Cooper & Jordan, Leighswood, Mayfield, St Michael’s, Rushall, Whetstone and Park Hall. From the opening round to the final question, the energy in the room was electric - a mixture of teamwork, friendly rivalry and a shared love of reading.

One pupil shared that his favourite moment was listening to an extract from Holes by Louis Sachar before taking on a series of questions. Another said, “I had a great time and also made new friends with pupils from other schools.” These comments truly capture the joy of World Book Day; stories connecting young people, sparking curiosity and building new friendships.

Pupils took home some wonderful prizes, once again demonstrating that a love of reading always makes you a winner!
