The Prevent Guy Visits Aldridge School

On Tuesday 22nd September, we were delighted to welcome The Prevent Guy to school to deliver a series of engaging and thought-provoking sessions to students across Years 7 to 11.

Throughout the day, every year group attended an age-appropriate presentation focused on a range of important topics linked to our PSHCE and Personal Development curriculum. Discussions explored the impact of online influences, misogyny, harmful narratives, critical thinking, and how young people can stay safe and make informed decisions in an increasingly digital world.

The sessions encouraged students to reflect on the content they encounter online, consider the influence that social media personalities and online communities can have, and understand the importance of challenging harmful attitudes and behaviours. Students were also reminded of the support available both in school and beyond should they ever have concerns about content they see online or the behaviour of others.

The speaker's engaging and relatable approach helped students to participate thoughtfully, ask insightful questions, and consider how they can contribute positively to their school and wider community. Staff were particularly impressed with the maturity and respect shown by students throughout the day.

As a school, we are committed to developing informed, responsible and resilient young people. Opportunities such as this play an important role in supporting our students' understanding of safeguarding, online safety, respect, and citizenship.

We would like to thank The Prevent Guy for delivering such valuable sessions and our students for their excellent conduct and participation throughout the day.

This event forms part of our ongoing commitment to providing a rich Personal Development programme that equips students with the knowledge and skills needed to navigate the challenges and opportunities of modern life.
