Opportunities in Industry - Careers Event

As part of Aldridge School’s careers programme, selected Year 10 pupils took part in the ‘Opportunities in Industry’ day at InComm Training on 15th January 2026. The visit gave pupils a valuable insight into the world of engineering and the range of career pathways available within the sector. 

During the day, pupils attended an informative talk about apprenticeships, gaining a clearer understanding of the routes into skilled employment and the expectations of industry. They also took part in a spaghetti and marshmallow engineering challenge, which helped them develop key employability skills such as teamwork, problem solving and communication. 

The group toured the InComm facility, seeing firsthand the equipment, workshops and training spaces used by apprentices. Pupils then had the opportunity to speak with a variety of employers from across the engineering industry, learning more about different roles and what companies look for in future applicants.
