Northern Lights and Natural Wonders: Students Embark on Unforgettable Iceland Expedition
Nineteen Year 13 Physics and Geography students, along with Mr Chohan and Mrs Elton, recently returned from an incredible educational trip to Iceland, experiencing first-hand the unique natural wonders and sustainable technologies that make this remarkable country so special.
During the visit, students explored breathtaking waterfalls, relaxed in the geothermal waters of the Blue Lagoon, and watched powerful geysers erupt into action. They also visited geothermal power stations, learning how Iceland generates nearly all of its electricity from renewable energy sources. Highlights included witnessing the spectacular Northern Lights dancing across the night sky, exploring the vibrant city centre of Reykjavik, and sampling some of Iceland's traditional cuisine.
The group also visited the Lava Centre, where they learned about Iceland's volcanic activity and the science behind earthquakes, volcanoes and lava flows. From stunning landscapes to fascinating scientific discoveries, the trip provided unforgettable experiences and memories that will last a lifetime. Iceland truly proved to be an amazing classroom beyond the school gates.
