Local Poet and Professional Boxer “Matt Windle” Inspires Aldridge School Students Through Poetry

On Friday 6th June 2025, Aldridge School welcomed local poet and professional boxer, Matt Windle, for an inspiring workshop with a group of students. The session was part of a creative initiative to compose a collaborative poem for The Mercian Trust’s Celebration Day, which will take place on Friday 27th June 2025.

Matt worked closely with the students, blending his passion for both words and sport to encourage self-expression, confidence, and creativity. His visit left a lasting impact, energising students to explore poetry in a fresh, meaningful way.

Jenson D, student from Year 7, commented, “It was fun adding our own verse to the poem that other schools started. Working together like this made me feel part of something special.”
