Aldridge Students Turn the Page on an Exciting Book Week!
Aldridge School’s annual Book Week was another exciting celebration of reading, creativity and inspiration; with students enjoying a visit from bestselling author Jennifer Killick on Monday 19th October.
Jennifer, author of the hugely popular Dread Wood series and several other acclaimed children's novels, shared her experiences as a writer, spoke about where her ideas come from, and encouraged students to explore their own creativity through reading and writing.
Jenson K, Year 7, said: “I really enjoyed meeting Jennifer Killick and hearing about how she comes up with her ideas. She made writing seem exciting and inspired me to read more of her books.”
Book Week is an important part of how we welcome Year 7 students into the school community and encourage a lifelong love of reading. Throughout the first half-term, a range of exciting book-related competitions have taken place, with over 120 prizes set to be awarded at our Prize Giving Ceremony on Thursday 22nd October.
We are thrilled to welcome professional boxer and poet, Matt Windle, to present the prizes and help us celebrate the creativity and enthusiasm our students have shown.
