Year 10 Take on STEM Challenge with In-Comm Workshop

As part of Aldridge School’s careers programme, Year 10 pupils took part in an exciting STEM workshop led by Leanne Mee on behalf of In-Comm. The event, held on Monday 3rd November, introduced students to the world of apprenticeships and the wide range of job roles available through In-Comm and its partner companies.

Following an engaging talk, pupils were challenged to design and build a mechanical device using K’Nex that could move as many ping pong balls as possible over a 200mm distance in just 10 seconds. Working in teams of four, students applied creativity, problem-solving, and engineering skills to meet the brief.

Throughout the challenge, pupils were awarded points not only for their technical success but also for demonstrating key employability skills such as teamwork, communication, and lean manufacturing principles. These scores were combined to determine the winning teams.

A big thank you to Leanne Mee and In-Comm for delivering such a valuable and inspiring experience for our students.
