‘Have a Go’ at the Ladder Skills Academy

Students from Years 9, 10, and 11 recently took part in an exciting ‘Have a Go’ Careers Workshop, designed to give them hands-on experience across a range of industries and skill sets.

Throughout the day, students engaged in a variety of practical activities that showcased real-world applications of career skills:

  • 🧵 Craftsmanship: Students created their own leather keyrings, learning about design, precision, and the value of handmade products.
  • 🔧 Engineering & Electronics: They built electrical circuits to power doorbells and mini helicopters, gaining insight into how everyday technology works.
  • 🩺 Healthcare: A medical workshop introduced students to CPR techniques and blood pressure, offering a glimpse into the responsibilities of healthcare professionals.
  • 📈 Marketing: In a dynamic marketing session, students explored branding, consumer engagement, and creative communication.
  • 🔩 Virtual Welding: Using simulation technology, students tried their hand at welding, developing spatial awareness and technical skills in a safe, virtual environment.

This immersive experience not only sparked curiosity but also helped students develop key employability skills such as teamwork, problem-solving, and adaptability. It was a fantastic opportunity for them to explore potential career paths and build confidence in their abilities.

Thank you to the Ladder Skills academy and all the companies that shared their expertise on the day.
