Careers Event - Careers Fair
On Thursday 13th November, our school hosted its annual Careers Fair. A highlight of the academic calendar that brought together students from every year group to explore the wide range of opportunities available after school. The event transformed the sports hall into a bustling hub of conversation, with stalls from universities, colleges, training providers, and employers offering advice, guidance, and inspiration.
The fair was designed to ensure that every student, from Year 7 through to Year 13, could benefit. Younger pupils were able to gain an early understanding of the pathways ahead using a task sheet to help them construct questions and make their experience more meaningful, while older students asked more specific questions about applications, qualifications, and career progression. The atmosphere was one of curiosity and excitement, with students engaging directly with professionals and discovering the many routes open to them.
We were delighted to welcome a broad mix of visitors, including:
- Universities such as Aston, Keele, Birmingham, Coventry, Exeter, Sheffield, Wolverhampton, and Derby, who provided insight into higher education and the variety of courses available.
- Colleges and training providers including BMet, BOA, Sandwell College, Walsall College, Nova Training, LD Training Services, In-Comm, Juniper Training, and Performance Through People, showcasing vocational routes and apprenticeships.
- Employers and organisations such as the NHS, DHL, Royal Navy, Wates Property Services, Morgan Sindall Construction, Oxley Developments, K9 Hydro Care Ltd, Walsall FC Foundation, Trojan MA and Altrad who highlighted careers across healthcare, logistics, public service, construction, and more.
This breadth of representation meant that students could explore everything from creative industries and engineering to healthcare and working with animals, gaining a clear picture of the many possibilities available.
Feedback from students has been overwhelmingly positive. Teachers noted that the fair sparked meaningful discussions in lessons afterwards, with students reflecting on their aspirations and thinking about new life goals.
The event also highlighted the importance of transferable skills and lifelong learning. Employers emphasised qualities such as teamwork, resilience, and communication, while universities encouraged students to think about how their interests could shape their future studies.
A massive thank you to all the visitors who gave their time, expertise and having such a big impact on our students.
